The soprano Alexandra Lubchansky completed her studies of piano and composition at the Music Conservatory in St Petersburg, her native city, graduating with distinction.
After further piano studies in Tel Aviv and Frankfurt in 2003 she graduated in voice at Karlsruhe Opera School under the tutelage of Prof. Roland Hermann.
Alexandra Lubchansky has worked with conductors such as Valery Gergiev, Vladimir Jurowski, Kent Nagano, Paavo Järvi, Stefan Soltesz, Ivor Bolton, Lothar Zagrosek, Paolo Carignani, Emanuel Krivine, Constantin Trinks, etc.
She performed at the Semperoper Dresden, the Bavarian State Opera, the Mariinsky Theatre, the Théatre de la Monnaie, the New National Theatre Tokyo, the Frankfurt Opera, the Festspielhaus Salzburg and the Aalto-Theater Essen.
During the Mozart Year of 2006, Ms Lubchansky performed as Queen of the Night and Blonde at the Mozart Festival of the Bavarian State Opera in Munich. In June 2006 she sang Rosina in Christof Loy’s production of Mozart’s La finta semplice at Oper Frankfurt (conductor: Julia Jones). As well in Frankfurt she performed as Fiakermilli in Loy’s staging of Arabella. She sang Zerbinetta at Semperoper Dresden, the Marijinsky Theatre St. Petersburg, the Nationaltheater Mannheim, the Staatstheater Kassel and the Festspielhaus Salzburg. In 2008 Alexandra Lubchansky gave her role debut as Donna Anna at Aalto-Theater Essen (director: Stefan Herheim). The role of the Contessa followed 2010 at Staatstheater Darmstadt.
As a concert singer, she has performed with the German Symphony Orchestra of Berlin, with the Bavaria Radio and the Hessen Radio Symphony Orchestras, the Orchestre National Montpellier, the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra, the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra, the Düsseldorf Symphony Orchestra and La Chambre Philharmonique as well as with the Munich Philharmonic orchestra in Munich.
After the birth of her daughter, Alexandra’s voice developed towards a jugendlich-dramatisch soprano. Important role debuts in this repertoire were: 2015 Liù at National Opera Sofia; 2016 Donna Elvira at Staatstheater Saarbrücken. In season 2016/17 she performed as Callas in the highly acclaimed world premiere at Theatre Bern. Furthermore, in 2016/17 she made her debut as Tatiana (Eugene Onegin) at National Opera Sofia; Salome at the Mariinsky Theatre; Elsa (Lohengrin) and the title role in Reznicek’s Donna Diana at National Theatre Prague; Senta (The Flying Dutchman) at Sommeroper Selzach (Switzerland).
Her intense collaboration with the conductor Vladimir Jurowski continued in November 2018 at the international contemporary music festival „Another Space“ at the Philharmonie Moscow. Here Alexandra Lubchansky sang works by Claude Vivier, Fausto Romitelli and a world premiere by Anton Safronov.
Some upcoming engagements include a role debut as Isolde at Teatro Petruzzeli di Bari, a Concert at the Salzburger Festspielhaus as well as a role debut as Lisa in Pique Dame at the Sofia National Opera.
