Evgeniya Sotnikova made her stage debut in the title role in Iolanta at the St Petersburg Conservatory in 2008, same year she joined the ensemble of the Novaya Opera in Moscow, where she debuted as Tatiana in Eugene Onegin. After her success at the International Opera Competition in Dresden, she joined the Opera Studio at the Bayerische Staatsoper in 2009 and was then invited to join the Ensemble of this great Oper House. Evgeniya performed various roles including: First nymph (Rusalka), Frasquita, Barbarina, Voice from heaven, Taumännchen, Nerina, Blumenmädchen, Anna, etc.
Her most recent success included the role of Ilia in Idomeneo for which she was nominated for the prestigious prize “Goldener
Schikaneder” and Leila in “Les Pecheurs de Perles” both at the Stadttheater in Klagenfurt. The outstanding role debut as Jemmy in a new production of Guillaume Tell at the Bayerische Staatsoper, brought upon her critical acclaim and various prices, including the “Festspielpreis 2014”. As well as the performances of De Materie by Louis Andriessen, where she sang Hadewijch at the Opening of the Ruhrtriennale Festival and in New York.
The russian Soprano performed at various opera theaters and concert halls in Europe, including Glyndebourne, Zurich Tonhalle, Academia Santa Cecilia in Rome, etc. She worked with such conductors as Vladimir Fedoseyev, Kirill Petrenko, Kent Nagano, Thomas Hengelbrock, Paolo Carignani, Teodor Currentzis, Dan Ettinger, Stefan Soltesz, and with such stage directors as Árpád Schilling, Antú Romero Nunes, Martin Kušej, Heiner Goebbels, etc.
Ms Sotnikova most recently performed Contessa in a new production of Le Nozze di Figaro by Peter Stein in Opera Malmö for which she received raving reviews. This summer she returns once again to her highly acclaimed role of Jemmy at the Bayerische Staatsopera’s production of Wilhelm Tell.
