Nadja Michael is one of the most exciting and sought after Dramatic Sopranos nowadays. Born and raised in Leipzig, Germany, she has risen to international prominence in the worlds leading opera theatres including the Royal Opera House, Metropolitan Opera, Teatro Alla Scala, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Vienna State Opera, Bolshoi Theatre, Teatro Real in Madrid, Bavarian State Opera, etc.

Initially a mezzo-soprano, the “marvellous actress and singer” performed many of the leading mezzo-soprano roles in world’s foremost opera houses, until her triumphant sopranodebut in 2005.

Some highlights from Nadja Michael’s previous seasons include Salome at the Royal Opera House – Covent Garden, Bavarian State Opera, Semperoper Dresden, and San Francisco Opera; the title role in Cherubini’s Médée at La Monnaie and the Théâtre des Champs Élysées; Lady Macbeth at the Metropolitan Opera, Bavarian State Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, and Semperoper Dresden; Marie in Wozzeck at the Teatro Real and Berlin State Opera; the title role in L’incoronazione di Poppea at the Teatro Real; Leonore in Fidelio at the Vienna State Opera; Elisabeth and Venus in Tannhauser and Marta in a new production of D’Albert’s Tiefland at the Deutsche Oper Berlin; the title role in Tosca at the Deutsche Oper Berlin (opposite Jonas Kaufmann); Marietta in Covent Garden’s first ever performance of Die Tote Stadt; the title role in Gluck’s Iphigenie en Tauride at La Monnaie; and the title role in Mayr’s Medea in Corinto at the Bavarian State Opera. Most recent are her great successes as Kundry in Parsifal at the Teatro Colon, Ortrud in Lohengrin at the Mariinsky Theatre in Russia, opposite Anna Netrebko, Emilia at the Bavarian State Opera and San Francisco Opera, Judith in Bluebeard’s Castle at the Metropolitan Opera, the title role in Fosca at the Theatro Municipal de São Paulo, as well as further performances of Katerina Ismailova at the Bolshoi Theatre for which she has been nominated for the Golden Mask (Russia’s most prestigious Theatre Award) as Best Female Performer.

Some upcoming Highlights include a series of Lieder concerts in various renown theatres all over the world, Macbeth in Warsaw, which will be recorded and broadcasted. Ms Michael will make her long awaited debut as Elektra and Isolde in Tristan and Isolde in St Petersburg, as well as repeat her unbeatable success as Ortrud at the Mariinsky Theatre.
