The young Armenian bass Sergey Stepanyan first studied at the Komitas State Conservatory in Yerevan, Armenia, before completing his education at the Accademia Lirica Internazionale in Osimo, Italy. While still a student, he took part in the International Young Arts Festival in China. Concerts in Armenia, Russia and Lithuania followed.
In 2019 he made his operatic debut as Zuniga in ”Carmen” at the Novosibirsk State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre, where in the following seasons he also performed Tom “Un Ballo in Maschera”, Colline “La Bohème”, the King of Egypt in “Aida” and Timur in “Turandot”.
Further engagements took him to the Mikhailovsky Theater in St. Petersburg for the roles of Sarastro »The Magic Flute«, the King of Egypt »Aida« and Tom in »Un Ballo in Maschera«.
In the 2021/22 season he made his German debut at the Opera Kiel as Cook in »The Love of Three Oranges«.
Upcoming engagments include Lodovico in “Otello”, Sarastro in “The Magic Flute”, Il Re in “Aida”, as well as Cardinal de Brogni in “La Juive”.
